At the 29th Annual Vehicle and Equipment Show presented by the NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS), representatives and operation managers of government agencies seeking more productive and sustainable electric forklift power had the opportunity to visit the Nuvera display presented by Eastern Lift Truck. Nuvera Fuel Cells, LLC, a 2016 proposal provider in support of Mayor DeBlasio’s NYC Clean Fleets Initiative, showed how electric forklifts can be fueled in as little as 2 minutes. The zero-emissions Nuvera® fuel cell system is a drop-in power option for replacing lead acid batteries in electric sit-down, reach, and pallet rider trucks (watch video at the end of this post).

Fuel cells drive value in targeted electric vehicle applications, both on- and off-road. Information about the benefits of fuel cells and hydrogen went beyond the show’s exhibition stands, with materials on FC / Battery comparisons provided by the Department of Energy, and presentations at the Empire Clean Cities Annual Stakeholder Meeting, which was co-located at the DCAS event. More than 150 attendees crowded the New York State Pavilion to listen to speakers and panelists covering a range of topics on clean fleets, alternative transportation, incentive programs, and clean and renewable fuels. Among the latter, plans for hydrogen supply infrastructure in New York City by station developers.
